The Motherland || Kolkata Diaries

I have been thinking about blogging for a long time, and thought that sharing bits of my India trip would be the perfect way to start off!

I was born in India, and spent the first 10 years of my life there before moving to the United States. For me, India always means bright colors, beautiful textiles, delicious food, warmth, and family. While there is no lack of these things in the US (especially since we have such a strong Indian community here), there is just something different about being in the hustle and bustle of India itself.

This recent trip to India was a long time coming - six years, in fact! College, grad school, work and life prevented me from going to India all this time, so this time I made sure to savour each and every moment I spent in my home country. Going in the winter was an amazing experience - the weather was beautifully mild (think warm days and chilly evenings - perfect for a strong cup of ginger chai), and we had bright sunshine every single day of our trip. We traveled quite a lot during our trip, covering Kolkata, Bhilai and Pune, each city giving us a different experience.

Without further ado, here are some of my favorite iPhone photos from Kolkata, taken on my first few days there!
